With self parking, you normally park the vehicle yourself and follow the facility’s instructions for reaching the terminal. With valet parking, an attendant takes responsibility for parking and returning the vehicle under the operator’s terms. A valet service is not necessarily a curbside airport handover; it may operate at an off-airport facility with a separate transfer.
Read the booking description rather than relying on a general search term. A hotel parking space, an airport shuttle or a photograph of an entrance does not establish that an attendant will park the car. The selected offer should clearly describe the handover and return process.

BWI’s official parking comparison lists the Hourly Garage, Daily Garage, Express Parking and Long Term A/B. This guide does not confirm a valet product at the airport. Consult the airport’s current information and the live private parking listings for the services available on your dates.
If the current listings show self parking, compare that service on its own merits. The Hourly Garage offers a walk to the terminal, while the airport’s Daily, Express and Long Term facilities use shuttles. Private parking providers publish their own transfer arrangements.

Questions to resolve before a valet reservation
If you find a valet offer, identify exactly where the handover takes place and how to contact the operator when approaching. Check whether you must call in advance, whether staff are available at your arrival time and whether the transfer to the terminal is included.
Review where the vehicle will be stored, any mileage or off-site movements described in the terms, the vehicle acceptance rules and what documentation is provided at handover. Keep the reservation confirmation and collection instructions with your travel documents. Do not assume that the airport’s terminal address is also the correct parking arrival point.
Plan the return before your flight
Check whether vehicle collection is available when your return flight is due and how the operator handles delays. A service advertised as convenient may still have restricted staffing or shuttle hours. Understand when to call after landing and whether the car is returned at the terminal or collected at the parking facility.
Allow time after landing for bags and any required border formalities. Ask about extra charges for extending the stay, changing the flight or collecting outside the booked period. Travelers with larger vehicles should confirm any height, length or other acceptance limits before paying.
BWI parking without a shuttle: compare the Hourly Garage
