BWI terminal layout: concourses A/B/C and D/E

BWI’s passenger terminal serves concourses A, B, C, D and E. Check your airline’s current gate and the official airport map before choosing where to spend time after security. The airport maps distinguish the A/B/C area from the D/E area; do not assume every concourse is connected after screening.

Follow the current departure board and airport signs, since gates can change. If you plan to use a lounge, meet another traveler or visit a particular facility, check whether you can reach it from the area serving your flight and still arrive at your gate on time.

Plan parking before your terminal arrival time

The Hourly Garage offers pedestrian access opposite the terminal. The Daily Garage, Express Parking and Long Term A/B use airport shuttles. Private parking reservations have their own arrival addresses and transfer terms, so use the confirmation for the offer you select.

BWI recommends being at the terminal two hours before a domestic departure or three hours before an international departure. Add driving, parking and transfer time before that point. Compare the BWI parking options and rates and save the correct parking address before leaving home.

BWI rail connections: MARC, Amtrak and Light Rail

MARC Penn Line and Amtrak trains serve the separate BWI Rail Station, linked to the terminal by airport shuttle. MARC provides connections with Baltimore Penn Station and Washington Union Station. Check the train operator’s current timetable for your travel date, including the final onward service after an evening arrival.

Light Rail stops immediately outside the terminal’s lower level near Concourse E and provides a route toward downtown Baltimore. Choose the service that fits your destination and leave time for baggage collection and the transfer from the terminal.

Arrange assistance and check passenger facilities

BWI provides accessible spaces in all airport-operated parking facilities. Its parking-lot and rail-station shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible. Arrange airline wheelchair assistance directly with your airline, and confirm the arrangements for any private parking or hotel transfer separately.

The Club BWI is in Concourse D near Gate D10. Review BWI lounge access guidance before buying a pass, especially if your flight uses A/B/C. The airport’s maps and facilities information should be your reference for the locations available along your departure route.

Build the rest of your trip around the flight

For an early departure or late arrival, compare hotels near BWI and confirm the hotel’s shuttle hours. A room booking does not automatically include parking throughout your trip; read the hotel parking guide if you need both.

For sightseeing before or after your flight, explore Baltimore places of interest and allow a realistic return to the airport. Leave luggage and vehicle arrangements clear before starting an excursion.
